We invite you to listen to a complete 4-hour program from the 39-year run of Those Were The Days (1970—2009) hosted by Radio Hall of Famer Chuck Schaden. The encore programs that run on this page are exactly as first broadcast over the air. They contain vintage radio shows, special guests and commercials and messages as originally presented on WLTD, Evanston (May 2, 1970 thru July 31, 1975); on WNIB, Chicago (September 6, 1975 thru February 10, 2001) and on WDCB, DuPage County (February 3, 2001 thru June 27, 2009). Encores are selected by us and are available on demand 24-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week. Program selections are added every week on Wednesday, 6 a.m. Central Time.
Be sure to visit our Archives of TWTD Encores. If you're a subscriber to this website, we'll keep you posted. (See our Home Page to subscribe, free.) Thanks for listening.
25th ANNIVERSARY SHOW
“Thanks for Listening”
Originally broadcast on WNIB
Saturday, April 29, 1995
AS WE COMPLETE 25 years of Those Were The Days broadcasts we express our appreciation with what we hope is a very special program.
We’ll share some memories of our quarter-century on the air and include clips from our broadcasts and interviews. In addition, we’ll have extensive highlights of the TWTD Anniversary Party held at Chicago’s Swissotel a week earlier as a benefit for the Museum of Broadcast Communications.
The party featured guest stars Shirley Bell Cole in a re-enactment of Little Orphan Annie; Bill Idelson in a re-enactment of Vic and Sade; and Fred Foy in a re-enactment of the origin story of The Lone Ranger. The radio stars were joined by members of the Those Were The Days Radio Players for the sketches which also include The Bickersons and The Charlie McCarthy Show.
The three special guest stars were interviewed by Chuck while announcer Ken Alexander added his special talents to the celebration.
